What we collect
When you join the waitlist or contact Huggie, we collect the name, email address, country, language preferences, and message details you choose to provide.
The app collects account information such as your phone number, username, display name, profile photo, account and subscription status, language preferences, and settings. It also processes message text, call audio, captions, transcripts, translations, files, support submissions, and routing or delivery metadata needed to provide the service.
When you visit the website, we may collect referral details, landing page, referrer, user agent, an anonymous visitor ID, and a hashed IP address for attribution, analytics, security, and abuse prevention.
Discover profiles, media, and verification
If you use Discover, we upload and store an account-linked profile document and the profile photos, voice hello, and voice prompt answers you choose to add. The profile can include your name, birthday or age, gender, pronouns, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, political views, relationship and family preferences, lifestyle answers, interests, languages, education and work, physical characteristics, biography, prompt answers, home city, country, time zone, and a selected home-map coordinate.
Some Discover fields are sensitive. Optional fields can be left unanswered where the app offers that choice. Profile visibility controls which answers other Discover users can see, but Huggie processes the complete profile to store it and provide Discover.
If you choose face verification, Huggie selects a one-time pose challenge and its server is authoritative for the result. Your verification selfie and uploaded profile photos are sent to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Rekognition for DetectFaces and CompareFaces processing in memory. The selfie is not stored. A successful verification stores the verification state and a signed attestation tied to your account and current profile-photo set.
How we use information
We use information to operate Huggie, send setup details, provide app access, support private partner spaces, route calls and messages, and deliver language translation features.
We use language choices, support requests, and safety reports to improve reliability, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and keep the experience safe.
We use waitlist and referral information to understand demand, attribute signups to approved partners, and communicate product updates.
Calls, messages, and translation
Huggie processes call, message, and language information as needed to provide, secure, translate, support, or troubleshoot the service. Some translation features require Huggie and its service providers to process audio or text.
Huggie records calls on a best-effort basis by default. Each connected side records the original audio it receives, and each translated direction also records generated translated audio. A call therefore produces two original clips plus zero, one, or two translated clips. Recording failures do not affect the call, translation, or playback. Associated alignment, event, and session metadata may also be stored.
Huggie may analyze call recordings to evaluate translation quality and reliability. We do not use private call audio, messages, transcripts, or translations to train models unless you separately opt in or submit that content for feedback.
If you submit a safety report or support request, we may review the information you provide so we can respond and protect users.
Contacts, location, and purchases
If you choose to sync contacts, normalized phone numbers are submitted to Huggie's remote-attested private contact-discovery service. Contact names, email addresses, and photos are not included in that lookup. End-to-end encrypted contact records may also be sent to devices linked to your account.
We transmit precise coordinates when you choose to share a location in a conversation or save a home pin to Discover. Discover also stores your selected city, country, and time zone.
For an App Store purchase, the app sends Huggie the product, subscription state, original transaction identifier, and Apple's signed transaction JWS so our authenticated billing service can activate and reconcile Premium. Apple processes payment-card details; Huggie does not receive them from Apple.
Analytics and cookies
Huggie uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate site usage. Vercel describes this product as privacy-focused and not based on third-party cookies.
Referral attribution may use local storage and a first-party cookie so a signup can be connected to an approved partner during the attribution window.
Huggie does not use app data to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and it does not use location for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Who we share information with
We use service providers such as Vercel for website hosting and analytics, Supabase for website database and authentication infrastructure, Google for partner sign-in, Apple and other payment providers for purchases, OpenAI for real-time translation processing, Microsoft Azure for translated-call recording storage, and AWS Rekognition for Discover face verification.
We may share information when required by law, to protect Huggie and users, or to investigate fraud, abuse, refunds, chargebacks, or security incidents.
We do not sell personal information as a business model.
Retention
We keep information while it is useful for operating Huggie, supporting users, maintaining security, meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, or preventing abuse.
Call-recording blobs and session rows are removed from active storage after 90 days. Microsoft Azure soft delete may keep deleted recording blobs recoverable for up to seven additional days.
Discover profiles and uploaded profile media are kept until you remove them or delete your account, subject to limited security, fraud-prevention, and legal retention needs. The verification selfie is processed in memory and is not stored.
Some records may need to be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, payment, tax, or legal reasons.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete information by contacting us at privacy@huggie.ai.
You can leave the waitlist or stop using Huggie at any time. Some deletion requests may be limited where we need records for security, fraud prevention, payment, tax, or legal reasons.
Children
Huggie is not intended for children under 18. Do not use the service or join the waitlist if you are under 18.
